TEFL - Teacher Training Course

Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language.

The certificate in TEFL is a highly intensive teacher-training course designed to prepare the participants to teach English as a foreign language to international students / English second language students.

The duration of the course is 4 weeks with a minimum of 100 hours. During this time trainees learn the theory and practice of language teaching as well as gaining practical experience in the classroom. Participants will be asked to teach from the first week of the course. The course is run with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 8 participants and applicants are accepted on a "first come first served" basis.

Entry requirements:
In order to be accepted onto the course participants must be fluent in English and have completed High School. In the case of mature students, application will be considered on the basis of experience rather than educational qualifications. Teaching experience is not necessary in order to complete the course.

Times:
Classes begin at 8.30 am daily with a lunch break from 13.00 - 14.00. Teaching practice will be held in the afternoons and participants will be asked to complete assignments and prepare classes after hours. On the afternoons when trainees are not teaching they will be free to choose between working by themselves or assessing peer teaching.

Price:
The cost of the course (and deposit) is shown on the program fees page. A deposit along with your completed application form must be submitted to TIES. Once this has been received you will receive acceptance onto a course. The remaining fees are due on the first day of the course. The deposit is non-refundable.

Certification:
A TEFL certificate and teaching report will be given to all those who successfully complete the course. A final grade of at least a C is required to pass. For details of the course subjects, tests and assignments please ask for the course outline.
